for the Advancement of Teaching.
My dear President Schurman .
June 6, 1916.
I have the honor to inform you that, at the meeting of the Execu
tive Committee held on June 2nd, Mrs. Clara Doherty Hart was, upon
your recommendation and in accordance with the rules of the Founda
tion granted a pension of $950 to become effective on May 19, 1616
on the termination of Professor Hart's allowance thirty days after his
death.

17. A communication from Dr. A. T. Kerr in regard to a plan for
the distribution of the yearly appropriation for the Sage Research
Fund, was referred to a committee of consisting the Chairman of the
Finance Committee and Professor Comstock to report.
18. The matter of the regulation of traffic on the campus was re
ferred to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds.
19. Resolved, That the organs in Bailey Hall and Sage Chapel be
placed in charge of the University Organist who shall be directly re
sponsible for their custody and care ;
That the use of either instrument by other parties shall not be per
mitted without the consent and approval of the University Organist,
or in his absence, the Head of the Department of Music ;
That the Business Office be directed to continue in force existing or
similar contracts, payable from Music Department funds as hereto
fore, for tuning, inspection and minor repairs upon the organs ;
That the Comptroller, upon the request of the University Organist,
be authorized, in his discretion, to provide from the Contingent Fund
for reasonable emergency repairs upon the organs and other expenses
necessary for their proper care and maintenance.
20. Whereas copies of a letter alleged to have been written by a
member of the Faculty of Cornell University and of a character war
are
ranting inquiry in circulation :
Resolved, That the President of the University be requested to as
certain, if possible, whether the letter was in fact written by its re
puted author and to report the result of his inquiry to a subsequent
of

this Committee.

made a report in regard to the matter
of the collateral inheritance tax on the estate of Joseph L. Stichter
