In Vietnam, the Bel Foundation supported a
project to help 900 children and 125 pregnant
women by disseminating information,
distributing food supplements, providing
health checkups, and distributing medicines.

child obesity in working class neighborhoods.

Couleurs de Chine seeks to encourage access
to learning for the children of ethnic minorities
in China. The Bel Foundation is providing
funding for school equipment.

Uniting under the sail
A human adventure shared
with employees
In 2005, when Bel decided to
sponsor skipper Kito de Pavant,
everybody knew that the
partnership would not be a simple
trade of funding for sticking a
logo on a sail. That’s not the Bel way,
and it’s not what Kito de Pavant was
seeking. Bel’s ambassador and his
red cow on the high seas, the
Groupe Bel sailboat, have forged
genuine ties to all the Group’s
subsidiaries. So far, over 8,000 Bel
employees have left their thumbprints
on the ship’s mast, to symbolize
their support for the skipper
when he’s racing at sea. Twelve
subsidiaries and 14 production sites
have welcomed Kito and shared
their enthusiasm with him.
Kito also participates in the
company’s internal communication
efforts when his presence can help
spread an important message.
In 2011, he participated in an
internal fi lm dedicated to the
”zero accidents” program.
The fi lm shows the constant
risk onboard the sailboat.
Kito makes safety a constant
concern, as all Bel employees
must do in their professional
environments.
On the 2012 agenda, the Groupe Bel
yacht will visit the Group’s Algerian
subsidiary for the fi rst time, a new
“Sharing Smiles Regatta” will once
again unite Bel teams from around
the world, and, in a major event,
the Groupe Bel will set sail from
Sables-d’Olonne, France on
November 10 for the Vendée Globe
singlehanded yacht race around the
world. Kito will be counting on the
support of Bel’s 11,400 fans and
their families.
