were placed on <strong>the</strong> epicardial surface on ei<strong>the</strong>r side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> artery to be grafted, with a<br />

suction pressure <strong>of</strong> no more than 600 mm Hg. Small coronary clamps %yere applied to<br />

proximal and distal to <strong>the</strong> site <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> anastomosis with just enough pressure to occlude<br />

coronary flow and <strong>the</strong>refore allow grafting in a bloodless field They were released<br />
