2.6 Organisation: From April 2008, TCS effected<br />
a organizational restructur<strong>in</strong>g aimed at<br />
align<strong>in</strong>g the organization closely to the<br />
Company’s bus<strong>in</strong>ess strategy and operat<strong>in</strong>g<br />
imperatives. The new organization consists of<br />
<strong>in</strong>dividual bus<strong>in</strong>ess units structured as <strong>in</strong>dustry<br />
solution units for the major markets <strong>in</strong> the USA<br />
and Europe; <strong>in</strong>dependent bus<strong>in</strong>ess units <strong>in</strong> new<br />
growth markets like India, Asia Pacific, Lat<strong>in</strong><br />
America, Middle-east and Africa; and strategic<br />
bus<strong>in</strong>ess units to drive new non-l<strong>in</strong>ear growth<br />
<strong>in</strong>itiatives.<br />
The <strong>in</strong>tegrated customer-centric units help<br />
enhance customer focus, drive operational<br />
agility and address new growth opportunities<br />
<strong>in</strong> the market. The new ‘global operat<strong>in</strong>g model’<br />
has provided customers with a s<strong>in</strong>gle view of<br />
the Company, encompass<strong>in</strong>g project delivery<br />
and relationship management and enabled a<br />
sharper focus on the customer. This new<br />
operat<strong>in</strong>g model has stabilized dur<strong>in</strong>g the year<br />
and is deliver<strong>in</strong>g value to the customers.<br />
The flat structure, enables closer collaboration<br />
among the leadership teams <strong>in</strong> each operat<strong>in</strong>g<br />
unit which helps the Company rema<strong>in</strong> agile and<br />
adapt to rapidly chang<strong>in</strong>g market conditions<br />
across <strong>in</strong>dustries and markets. It enables the<br />
Company to reta<strong>in</strong> talent as it provides greater<br />
leadership opportunities across the<br />

organization and enables each bus<strong>in</strong>ess unit to<br />
have the space and headroom to grow without<br />
los<strong>in</strong>g the benefits derived from TCS’ scale, size<br />
and geographical reach.<br />
The new organizational framework ultimately<br />
helps to ensure that customers can ‘Experience<br />
Certa<strong>in</strong>ty’ <strong>in</strong> their relationship with TCS as it<br />
provides a clear customer focus and enables us<br />
to be close to the customer as a virtual extension<br />
of their organization.<br />
TCS’ Global Footpr<strong>in</strong>t: The Company is<br />
<strong>in</strong>vest<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> develop<strong>in</strong>g and optimiz<strong>in</strong>g its global<br />
presence, <strong>in</strong> order to pursue opportunities <strong>in</strong><br />
global markets on an ongo<strong>in</strong>g basis and has<br />
140 offices <strong>in</strong> 42 countries as well as 101 solution<br />
centers <strong>in</strong> 18 countries. The Company has 8<br />
near-shore solution centers <strong>in</strong> 7 countries and<br />
93 global solution centers <strong>in</strong> 27 locations <strong>in</strong> 10<br />
countries. (See Chart 13)<br />
The TCS sales organisation has been aligned to<br />
meet the needs of the customers. As at March<br />
31, 2009, TCS had 23 offices <strong>in</strong> USA and Canada,<br />
11 offices <strong>in</strong> 7 countries <strong>in</strong> Iberoamerica, 9<br />
offices <strong>in</strong> UK and Ireland, 22 offices <strong>in</strong> 12<br />
countries <strong>in</strong> Europe, 18 offices <strong>in</strong> 12 countries<br />
<strong>in</strong> the Asia Pacific region and 7 offices <strong>in</strong> 6<br />
countries <strong>in</strong> the Middle East and Africa. In India,<br />
TCS had 56 offices <strong>in</strong> 13 locations.<br />

2.8 Market Presence: In terms of geographies the<br />
Company cont<strong>in</strong>ues to grow <strong>in</strong> multiple<br />
geographies, particularly <strong>in</strong> mature markets<br />
like North America and Europe <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
United K<strong>in</strong>gdom, The Company has <strong>in</strong>creased<br />
its focus on the Western European markets like<br />
Germany, France, Benelux and the Nordic region<br />
as well as emerg<strong>in</strong>g markets like Lat<strong>in</strong> America<br />
and Asia Pacific regions. The Company has also<br />
been <strong>in</strong>vest<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> emerg<strong>in</strong>g markets such as the<br />
Middle East, Africa and Eastern Europe,<br />
identified as future high growth markets. TCS’<br />
geographical growth strategy has a two<br />
pronged approach focused on major markets<br />
and new growth markets.<br />
2.9 Major Markets: The Company cont<strong>in</strong>ues to<br />
focus on serv<strong>in</strong>g large global clients and<br />
grow<strong>in</strong>g its bus<strong>in</strong>ess <strong>in</strong> the major markets,<br />
namely North America, Western Europe, the<br />
UK and Ireland. The key focus <strong>in</strong> these mature<br />
markets is on grow<strong>in</strong>g our wallet share <strong>in</strong> key<br />
customer accounts and penetration of new key<br />
accounts us<strong>in</strong>g our <strong>in</strong>tegrated full services and<br />
the GNDMTM offer<strong>in</strong>gs through a vertical<br />
approach. This focus allows the Company to<br />
push for aggressive growth us<strong>in</strong>g a client centric<br />
strategy. The Company has numerous multiyear<br />
relationships established with global<br />
mult<strong>in</strong>ationals <strong>in</strong> these markets and has been<br />
provid<strong>in</strong>g them a multiple range of services.<br />
2.10 New Growth Markets: The Company has been<br />
<strong>in</strong>vest<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> emerg<strong>in</strong>g or new growth markets<br />
s<strong>in</strong>ce 2003 and has achieved significant size and<br />
scale <strong>in</strong> Lat<strong>in</strong> American markets like Brazil,<br />
Chile, Mexico, Argent<strong>in</strong>a, Colombia and Ecuador,<br />
where over 6,000 professionals are work<strong>in</strong>g<br />
with global, regional and national corporations.<br />
We have <strong>in</strong>creased our presence <strong>in</strong> the Asia<br />
Pacific region <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Ch<strong>in</strong>a and the other<br />
Asean countries, as well as Eastern Europe,<br />
Middle-East and Africa. The Company cont<strong>in</strong>ues<br />
to rema<strong>in</strong> committed to <strong>in</strong>vest<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the fast<br />
