2.11 Industry Solution Units: In order to reta<strong>in</strong> a<br />
sharp customer focus <strong>in</strong> key global accounts and<br />
enhance customer centricity across the<br />
organization, the Company has established<br />
Industry Solution Units (ISUs) along <strong>in</strong>dustry<br />
verticals <strong>in</strong> major markets where the Company<br />
has sizable presence. The list of Industry<br />
Solutions Unit <strong>in</strong>cludes: Bank<strong>in</strong>g and F<strong>in</strong>ancial<br />
<strong>Services</strong>, Insurance, Telecom, Manufactur<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
Retail and Distribution, Life Science and<br />

2.12 Strategic Growth Bus<strong>in</strong>ess: The Company<br />
established three Strategic Growth Bus<strong>in</strong>esses:<br />
2.12.1 TCS F<strong>in</strong>ancial Solutions: TCS F<strong>in</strong>ancial<br />
Solutions creates value for f<strong>in</strong>ancial <strong>in</strong>stitutions<br />
across the globe by leverag<strong>in</strong>g its <strong>in</strong>tegrated<br />
f<strong>in</strong>ancial services applications platform, TCS<br />
BαNCS, for the global bank<strong>in</strong>g, capital markets<br />
and <strong>in</strong>surance <strong>in</strong>dustries. By focus<strong>in</strong>g on<br />
<strong>in</strong>creas<strong>in</strong>g efficiency levels for its customers<br />
through a co-<strong>in</strong>novative network of<br />
partnerships and shar<strong>in</strong>g of best practices, TCS<br />
F<strong>in</strong>ancial Solutions won 37 new customers<br />
across advanced and emerg<strong>in</strong>g markets, while<br />
deliver<strong>in</strong>g the experience of certa<strong>in</strong>ty by go<strong>in</strong>g<br />
live on-time and with<strong>in</strong> budgets to 41 customers<br />
<strong>in</strong> the fiscal year 2009.<br />

2.12.2 Platform Based BPO: Platform based Bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
Process Outsourc<strong>in</strong>g (BPO) is an outsourc<strong>in</strong>g<br />
model <strong>in</strong> which the Company utilizes established<br />
technology platforms to provide bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
solutions and services to customers for<br />
execut<strong>in</strong>g highly standardized processes.<br />
The strategic driver beh<strong>in</strong>d such a service<br />
offer<strong>in</strong>g from the Company is the <strong>in</strong>creased<br />
recognition amongst organizations that<br />
significant leverage opportunities exists <strong>in</strong><br />
shar<strong>in</strong>g costs and <strong>in</strong>vestments for execut<strong>in</strong>g<br />
critical bus<strong>in</strong>ess processes. TCS believes that its<br />
ability to create and deliver value to customers<br />
will be superior when it controls all aspects -<br />
people, process and technology - of such<br />
bus<strong>in</strong>ess areas. TCS essentially envisages<br />
creat<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess process utility services, which<br />
comb<strong>in</strong>e the best of applications, <strong>in</strong>frastructure<br />
and BPO services.<br />
The Company started the Platform BPO unit <strong>in</strong><br />
April 2008 as a strategic growth bus<strong>in</strong>ess unit.<br />
The platform BPO unit has seen good traction<br />
<strong>in</strong> Human Resource Outsourc<strong>in</strong>g (HRO)<br />
platform, and has conceptualized and created<br />
new Platforms <strong>in</strong> select areas of F<strong>in</strong>ance &<br />
Account<strong>in</strong>g (F&A), Procurement and Analytics.<br />
TCS is work<strong>in</strong>g closely with partners to take<br />
these growth opportunities to the market.<br />
As per analyst estimates, Platform BPO which<br />
constitutes 5-10% of the overall BPO services<br />
market today (~$190 billion) is expected to<br />
<strong>in</strong>crease to around 15% by 2010.<br />
2.12.3 Small and Medium Bus<strong>in</strong>ess: The Company<br />
has launched the Small and Medium Bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
(SMB) Strategic Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Unit (SBU) with the<br />
objective of offer<strong>in</strong>g “IT-as-a-Service”<br />
framework. This is an <strong>in</strong>novative bus<strong>in</strong>ess model<br />
<strong>in</strong> terms of provid<strong>in</strong>g and manag<strong>in</strong>g IT remotely,<br />
and charg<strong>in</strong>g for these services on subscription<br />
basis. SMBs are gett<strong>in</strong>g the experience of<br />
customized low-cost solutions, scalable to their<br />
grow<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess needs. The service is modeled<br />
on the “pay-as-you-use” and “build-as-yougrow”<br />
paradigms.<br />
The services and solutions with<strong>in</strong> “IT-as-aservice”<br />
<strong>in</strong>clude the core bus<strong>in</strong>ess applications<br />
such as ERP, CRM, F<strong>in</strong>ance and account<strong>in</strong>g among<br />
others.<br />
2.13 <strong>Services</strong> and Offer<strong>in</strong>gs: The details of the<br />
Company’s Service Offer<strong>in</strong>gs are discussed<br />
below.<br />
2.13.1 IT Solutions and <strong>Services</strong>: These services<br />
<strong>in</strong>clude: Application Development and<br />
