the <strong>in</strong>ception of the program, the total number<br />
of graduates tra<strong>in</strong>ed and deployed is 2,517. The<br />
project leader community rated deployability<br />
of Ignite tra<strong>in</strong>ees as very high.<br />
Ignite tra<strong>in</strong>ees are encouraged to pursue higher<br />
education while work<strong>in</strong>g. For example, for a<br />
MCA degree program at Sastra University <strong>in</strong><br />
Tamil Nadu, students are given credit for their<br />
tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> TCS and by complet<strong>in</strong>g the rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />
credits, they are awarded a MCA degree.<br />
Around 1000 Ignite tra<strong>in</strong>ees have enrolled for<br />
this program. The top 1% of Ignite tra<strong>in</strong>ees<br />
enroll for a challeng<strong>in</strong>g MSc Computer Science<br />
program at the Chennai Mathematical Institute.<br />

5.6 Learn<strong>in</strong>g and Development: As the<br />
recruitment mix of new employees becomes<br />
biased towards hir<strong>in</strong>g greater numbers of fresh<br />
eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g graduates from campuses, the<br />
capacity of Initial Learn<strong>in</strong>g Program (ILP) had<br />
to be <strong>in</strong>creased. Two new ILP centers were<br />
opened <strong>in</strong> Ahmedabad and Guwahati, <strong>in</strong><br />
addition to one <strong>in</strong> Thiruvananthapuram. More<br />
than 19,500 tra<strong>in</strong>ees completed the ILP.<br />
Our employees ga<strong>in</strong>ed 23,000 new technology<br />
certifications dur<strong>in</strong>g 2008-09 as part of the<br />
Cont<strong>in</strong>uous Learn<strong>in</strong>g Program (CLP) <strong>in</strong> FY09. The<br />
e-Learn<strong>in</strong>g coverage <strong>in</strong>creased to 32% of total<br />
learn<strong>in</strong>g days with modules <strong>in</strong> Portuguese,<br />
Mandar<strong>in</strong> and Spanish rolled out. A new version<br />
of Competency Management System (iCALMS)<br />
and a Learn<strong>in</strong>g Plann<strong>in</strong>g System have been<br />
implemented to <strong>in</strong>crease the automation of<br />
L&D Processes.<br />
