<strong>Bacteria</strong> that grow in nitrogen-free media are most probably unable to grow in<br />

higher concentrations of carbohydrates as carbon and energy sources. But carbohydrate<br />

utilization for M. phlei MbP18 was found to be different as they produce acids<br />

from glucose, arabinose, xylose, glycose, saccharose, maltose, glycerol and mannitol.<br />

The results of our study showed that many salt-tolerant rhizobacterial strains were<br />

capable of producing B vitamins and amino acids (Table 14.5). B vitamins and<br />
