It certainly is, according to Berlin publisher and Tritone-owner Konrad Börries. On his commission, the photographer Nicole Werner and writer Erdmann Braschos documented the 18-month restoration of Axel Springer’s yacht – long believed to be lost – by Riva restorer Jürgen Renken. The result is a 224-page volume that contains extraordinary photographs and texts about the last example of the Tritone series. The book illustrates and explains craftsmanship in depth. Starting with the stripping down of the boat, it details methods of wood repair and the techniques used to clean, stain and varnish the precious mahogany. It also describes how the boat’s fixtures were re-chromed by a specialist from Lombardy and how the American Chris Craft eight-cylinder engines, which are crude by today’s standards, were revamped in a north German workshop. // .
