Belden School Preservation Committee
Is Thankful for a Summer Feast
By LINDA NIESSNER
GTF Board President
Even though we are at winter’s
threshold and getting ready for
our annual Thanksgiving feast,
the Belden Committee recalls
a delightful end-of-summer
fundraiser feast at Fried Green
Tomatoes (FGT). Fred Bonnet,
FGT owner, graciously donated
a portion of the proceeds from
his now famous Lobster Boil to
the Belden School Preservation
fund. The meal, ambiance and
service were exquisite and everyone
came away from the evening
with a big smile.
In addition to providing a great
meal for the guests that filled
the restaurant, Bonnet pulled
the winning ticket for the raffle
prize provided by Territorian
Carol Ortega. Ortega designed,
created and donated a beautiful
round stained glass piece which
Territory residents Marilyn and
Irle Boehm were the happy
winners of the stained glass art
work created and donated by
property owner Carol Ortega.
Tomatoes owner Fred Bonnet as he pulls the winning raffle ticket
for a stained glass piece at FGT during the Lobster Boil dinner.
Bonnet donated a portion of each lobster dinner to Belden School’s
preservation. Photos by Linda Niessner.
Boil. Ortega and her husband
Zaty are long-time supporters of
the Belden preservation efforts.
Territory residents Marilyn and
Irle Boehm were the winners
of the decorative stained glass
piece.
Thank you to everyone who attended
the dinner and thank you
to those who purchased raffle
tickets. Thank you also to the
folks in the GTA Administrative
Office for selling raffle tickets.
Little Belden has many friends
and the BSPC members are
thankful for each and every
one.
