First an attempt was made to capitalize off our co-op for propane by a two cent per gallon charge. This was on a program that was set up to SAVE members money. Now certain board members want to assess members $210 to fix the Marina, again. This is on top of an expanding yearly assessment due to building and pool expansion. Taxes in the County are high enough without The Territory Directors looking for more and more. If a boater wants a boat slip, sell it to him. TO MY FITNESS CENTER FRIENDS YVONNE EBERLE 803 Shadow Bluff Drive I want to thank you for six plus years here as an Attendant that were filled with interesting and educational conversations, laughter, and yes, a few not-sofun moments. On Oct. 4 I had surgery in Chicago to remove a precancerous cyst. I’m blessed it was found early. Because of the expected extent of the surgery, I will be more susceptible to infection. I was advised I will need to restrict my contact with groups of people, anyone not feeling well or sick, especially with winter approaching. So for now, farewell. I will miss you! Editor’s Note: Yvonne has informed us that her surgery went well and she is now resting at home, well on the road to a full recovery. She thanks everyone for the well wishes. 452965-01A(11GTA VOTE NO ON THE CHANGE TO ARTICLE XI ON PROPOSED AMENDMENTS PRICE LOWERED! DJ SMITH Attorney at Law 17 Cemetery Ridge Road What is the reason for amending Article XI to reduce the voting requirement for changes to the Declaration? This is a very important document and should require a high bar before it is amended. As I read the proposed change, the Legal Committee is reducing the approval requirement from two-thirds of all of the Lot and Living Unit Owners to 66 percent of the owners who vote. So, let’s assume that there are 3,270 owners entitled to vote. Right now, more than 2,180 owners would have to vote to change the Declaration. Under the proposed Article XI, let’s assume only 1,500 owners decide to vote. So, this means 990 owners can vote to approve the changes (only 30 percent of the total membership!) I urge all property owners to VOTE NO on the change to Article XI as proposed by the Legal and Bylaw Committee when you receive your ballot. 2 Persimmon Drive 3 Bed 3 Bath MLS#20110408 $329,900 Like new condition, garage, upgraded throughout 127 Plum Cove Drive 3 Bed 3 Bath MLS#20102292 $128,500 3 levels, furnished on Eagle Ridge rental www.thegalenaterritory.com AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE XI IN THE GTA’S DECLARATION SHOULD BE DEFEATED GEORGE W. LINGEN, JR. DDS Northridge 319 Member: American Institute of Parliamentarians, National Association of Parliamentarians and Illinois Association of Parliamentarians I am writing this in reference to the proposed revision to the General Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions. I question the wisdom of changing the vote needed from two-thirds of all owners to 66 percent of the owners voting. The Branigar Organization, the original developer of The Galena Territory, through their experience in developing other resorts set a high bar that must be achieved to amend this declaration. This was done to protect all of us owners from a future group coming in with an agenda and changing the environment and amenities we all purchased our properties to enjoy. Hopefully we will follow their advice and avoid any future problems. I would recommend that this amendment be defeated.
