46 November 2011 MEMBERS, EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
By VERA COOKE
AND JAN HOEDEBECKE
League Co-Chairs
The 18-hole ladies’ golf league,
the Eagle I’s, ended our season
with a glorious day on The
General on Tuesday, Oct. 4, followed
by our annual Awards event.
We reminisced about our time on
the links in rain, wind, heat and
bugs. But most of all, we remembered
the best days, with the best
weather, and our best shots, on
some of the most beautiful courses
in the area.
Speaking of best shots, what’s
an awards’ event without awards!
Every player who shot a birdie
sometime during the season was
rewarded with a special birdie
pin. Joan Harvieux won the Most
Improved player for the season,
and Kathy Oczak cleaned up by
winning the best low net AND
the best low gross score on select
play dates. Kathy also won the
league’s Match Play competition.
Congratulations everyone!
We would like to take this opportunity
to thank Eagle Ridge’s
golf pros, Matt Romer, Michael
Stewart, Dan Schrieber and Doug
Even, along with their respective
Territory Times
course teams, for making our golf
season so pleasant. Also, special
thanks to Terry Sheridan and his
team at Spikes for the excellent
service and accommodations for
our Tuesday after-golf sessions.
This concludes our two-year
term as co-chairs of the Eagle I’s.
We enjoyed the new games we
brought to the league (well, most
of them at least); the new events
we introduced, including the Tee-
Bag Invitational and Twice Around
the East; but most of all, we enjoyed
the friendship and camaraderie
of our fellow golfers. Thanks
