El árbol de morro dibuja figuras caprichosas<br />

a las orillas de las carreteras salvadoreñas.<br />

Este árbol <strong>que</strong> fue sagrado para las culturas<br />

nahuas representa ahora la unión de la<br />

tradición con la modernidad, del pasado<br />

con el futuro. Crece de México a Costa<br />

Rica y es por lo mismo el árbol simbólico<br />

mesoamericano.<br />

Su fruto crece pegado al tronco y su árbol<br />

alcanza una altura de 8 metros. Es versátil y<br />

generoso. Su fruto es utilizado como jícaro<br />

o guacalito para consumo de bebidas<br />

tradicionales como el chilate y el atol<br />

shuco, con sus semillas tostadas se prepara<br />

horchata, su pulpa tiene diferentes usos<br />

medicinales.<br />

The "morro" tree draws capricious figures<br />

along of Salvadorean roads. This tree<br />

that was sacred for Nahuat cultures now<br />

represents the union of tradition with<br />

modernity, from the past to the future. It<br />

grows from Mexico to Costa Rica and is<br />

therefore a symbolic Mesoamerican tree.<br />

The tree reaches a height of 8 meters and its<br />

fruit grows stuck to the trunk. It is versatile<br />

and generous. Its fruit is used as a "jicaro"<br />

or "guacalito" (bowl) for consumption of<br />

traditional drinks such as chilate and shuco<br />

atol, with its roasted seeds a beverage<br />

called "horchate" is prepared, its pulp has<br />

different medicinal uses.<br />
