El bosque salado cobra primordial importancia
para el mantenimiento de uno de los espacios
más ricos y frágiles del país. La paradoja
consiste precisamente en su riqueza ecológica:
Al ser un espacio de tránsito entre aguas
dulces y saladas, su biodiversidad aumenta. Sin
embargo, en los últimos años, las variedades
de mangle rojo y negro han sido talados
para utilizar su madera y para crear espacios
agrícolas. A medida que la tala avanza la
humedad del bosque se reduce y el uso de
su suelo cambia radicalmente y con riesgo
ambiental. La mano del hombre, el pastoreo
de ganado y la depredación agrícola socavan
la sobrevivencia de los manglares del país.
Como ecosistema, registra más de 300 especies
animales en sus entrañas y durante el invierno
es santuario de aves migratorias. Los árboles
de mangle han funcionado históricamente
como barreras naturales en tormentas y
controlan inundaciones, por lo que son un
espacio ecológico estratégico para enfrentar
para el cambio climático.
El bosque salado es un paraje exuberante
para la contemplación, pero es, sobre todo, un
guardián del equilibrio ecológico.
The salty forest is of paramount importance
for the maintenance of one of the richest and
most fragile spaces in the country. The parodox
consists precisely in its ecological wealth: As it
is an area where sweet and salty waters mix,
its biodiversity increases. Nevertheless, during
the last years, the variety of red and black
mangle have been cut down in order to use its
wood and to create agrarian areas. As these
areas of mangle are cut off, the moisture of
the forest is getting lost and the use of the soil
is changing radically and with environmental
danger. Men’s action, the grazing of cattle,
and agrarian deploring take off the survival of
mangles along the country.
As an ecosystem, it registeres more than 300
animal species in its sanctuary and during rainy
season, it becomes the shelter for migratory
birds. Mangle trees have historically worked as
natural barriers in storm; controlling floods; so
it is a strategic, environmental area which helps
when facing weather changes.
The salty forest is an exuberant place to be
appreciated; above all it helps to protect the
environmental balance.
