It presents several improvementsto <strong>the</strong> Biocides Directiverequirements. The implementationwill, however, be extremely costly for<strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>dustry s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong> product authorisationprocess <strong>in</strong>cludes extensiveapplication dossier compilation and highauthorisation fees.The total costs for ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g acurrent biocidal product portfolio for anaverage size SME may rise to 2–3 millioneuros <strong>in</strong> total, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g all research andauthorisation costs.
