A number of standard options are available for all SLEEVOIL<br />

bearings (See Fig. 4). These non-standard <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>com</s<strong>tr</strong>ong>ponents can be<br />

used to enhance overall bearing performance in a number of ways,<br />

including significant expansion of the bearing’s operating envelope,<br />

maintaining consistent performance in ex<strong>tr</strong>emely changeable or<br />

hostile surroundings, improved system diagnostic capabilities,<br />

and more. The ten most <s<strong>tr</strong>ong>com</s<strong>tr</strong>ong>mon options are listed below. (Note:<br />

Thermocouple-Monitors bearing’s babbitt temperature to help<br />

protect system against abnormal operating conditions.<br />

Circulating Oil-Provi<s<strong>tr</strong>ong>des</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> con<strong>tr</strong>olled delivery of oil regardless<br />

of shaft surface speed. Provi<s<strong>tr</strong>ong>des</s<strong>tr</strong>ong> more rapid heat dissipation,<br />

constantly cleans oil, and floods bearing journal, all of which allows<br />

significantly higher speed operation. R Series - Circulating Oil<br />

Inlet Kit (1)<br />

Heater & Thermoswitch - Maintains consistent bearing oil sump<br />

temperature on startup in cold environments.<br />

Vibration Detector Kit-Attaches vibration sensors to bearing<br />

housing to allow constant monitoring of system balance. (2)<br />

Auxiliary Seals-Provide additional protection from environmental<br />

contaminants and locations where high velocity air flows over the<br />

bearing. (3)<br />

End Cap-Closes off bearing housing in short shafted applications.<br />

Hydrostatic Oil Lift-Maintains fully developed oil film by<br />

pressurized oil delivery to bearing journal load zone. Used primarily<br />

for slow speed operation or startup under ex<strong>tr</strong>emely heavy loads<br />
