Checking and lubricating the drive chainTo perform these operations, you must put the motorcycleon the rear stand, upright on a horizontal surfaceand with the gear in neutral.WARNINGBefore checking the chain adjustment, contacta <strong>MV</strong> <strong>Agusta</strong> authorized center to verifythat the value of the static setup of the rearsuspension is correct. Also make sure thatthe chain is properly lubricated.❏ Checking the chain adjustmentThe axis of the chain lower portion must be 50 mm (1.97inch) from the lower chain guard. Manually turn the rearwheel and carry out the check at several points alongthe chain. The distance between the chain and the lowerchain guard must remain almost constant as the wheelturns. If the chain is only partially loosened, it means thatsome chain links are flattened, seized or elongated. Ifthe distance is greather than 50 mm (1.97 inch), havethe chain adjusted by your local <strong>MV</strong> <strong>Agusta</strong> dealer.- 145 -50 mmWARNINGWhen servicing the chain, alwayswear heavy gloves and useextreme caution to avoid pinchingyour fingers between the chainand the sprocket. If your hand ispinched between the chain and thesprocket your fingers and handcould be amputated.6EN
