La « consommation » d’actes de médecine esthétique est réalisée, dans certains cas, avant l’âge de 30 ans… Some young people start to indulge in cosmetic medicine procedures before they even reach the age of thirty… Selon la définition des sociologues américains William Strauss et Neil Howe, les Millennials ou génération Y (de « WHY »), regroupent l’ensemble des personnes nées entre 1985 et l’an 2005. Elles sont perçues comme ayant des caractéristiques sociologiques et comportementales propres. Elles sont nées avec le digital, remettent en cause quasi-systématiquement toutes les contraintes qu’on leur impose, se veulent indépendantes et libres de choisir ce qu’elles veulent, quand elles veulent, comme elles le veulent. Il est intéressant de noter que les patientes de médecine esthétique sont de plus en plus jeunes. En effet, les actes de médecine esthétique tels que les injections de toxine botulique sont réalisées, dans certains cas, avant l’âge de 30 ans… De ce fait, nous devons changer de paradigme : l’effet recherché par ces patientes n’est plus un rajeunissement ou la recherche d’une « jeunesse retrouvée » mais surtout une prévention du vieillissement. Tout l’intérêt de ces injections chez les millennials réside dans ce concept : mettre les muscles du visage au repos, permettant ainsi de ralentir le vieillissement et de prévenir According to the definition provided by American sociologists William Strauss and Neil Howe, “Millennials” or “Generation Y” (from “WHY”) is the group name given to people born between 1985 and 2005. It is interesting to note that more and more young people are having aesthetic medicine procedures done. Indeed, aesthetic medicine procedures such as botulinum toxin injections are being carried out, in certain cases, before the patients reach the age of thirty. As a consequence, we are forced to change our paradigm: the effect that these patients seek is no longer rejuvenation or to recover their “lost youth”, but rather a way of preventing aging. What attracts Millennials to these injections is the following concept: they want to relax their facial muscles to slow down aging and prevent the appearance of so-called expression lines.
