Summary Rob Bregman This Succulenta issue is opened by Ben Zonneveld’s editorial. He explains how to collect seeds of Echeveria and Sempervivum. The usual column for our youngsters by Johanna Smit-Reesink deals with Borzicactus samaipatanus var. multiflorus. Bertus “cactussen” Spee presents pictures and short descriptions of Mammillaria bocasana “Fred”, Pachypodium brevicaule, Trichodiadema densum and Thelocactus leucacanthus. Jan Jaap de Morree went looking for aeoniums on the Canary Island La Palma. 12 Species occur there, 5 of them are endemic. Evert Smienk reports a strange phenomenon with his grafted Uebelmannia gummifera. The Echinopsis stem bursted open but it is still unclear whether this is a young Echinopsis or Uebelmannia sprout. Ton Pullen and Ludwig Bercht review the contents of other journals on succulent plants. Ludwig Bercht continues his series on the genus Gymnocalycium. In part 4 the Pirisemineum seed group is the subject. The vision of the author is that this seed group comprises of only two species, G. pflanzii and G. zegarrae (with subspecies and varieties). The more or less similar G. saglionis belongs to another seed group. Henk Viscaal discusses a new CD on the succulents of the Little Karoo, South Africa, compiled by Frans Noltee. The text is English. Jan Mijnders built a rock garden next to a wall of his house. Last summer he planted 138 succulent plants, predominantly cacti. After the winter with only protection from rain, 104 plants survived. Henk Viscaal and some of his friends visited the habitat of Geohintonia mexicana and Aztekium hintonii in Mexico. They include a table listing the differences of both plants. A new book on the genus Gymnocalycium by Graham Charles is reviewed by Henk Viscaal. The final article in this issue of Succulenta is by Louis van de Meutter. He presents Stapelia clavicorona, a stem succulent from South Africa which is difficult to cultivate and thus rare in collections.
