GENUS SENEGALIA – MIMOSOIDEAE
Senegalia grandistipula (Benth.) Seigler & Ebinger shows cambial variant lobed stem given
to stem the appearance of square and growth rings boundaries of sporadic occurrence (Figure
1A, 2A). The distinctness in microscopic view is possible by fibrous zone and semi-ringporous,
in some portions of stem. With less incidence radially flattened latewood cells and by
pith flecks and traumatic canals. The macroscopic and microscopic observations provide
distinction of growth rings boundaries, but macroscopic view facilities the detection of semiring
porosity.
Senegalia lacerans (Benth.) Seigler & Ebinger shows cambial variant xylem furrowed and
growth rings boundaries of sporadic occurrence, allowing the observation in some portions of
the samples (Figure 1C, 2B). The distinctness in microscopic view is possible by semi-ringporous;
fibrous zone; marginal parenchyma. With less frequency, radially flattened latewood
cells, pith flecks and traumatic canals. The macroscopic and microscopic observations provide
distinction of growth rings boundaries.
Senegalia martiusiana (Steud.) Seigler & Ebinger shows cambial variant lobed stem, with
cylindrical lobes and growth rings boundaries of sporadic occurrence, allowing the
observation in some portions of samples (Figure 1D, 2C). The features that allow the
distinction in microscopic view are semi-ring-porous; fibrous zone; pith flecks and traumatic
canals. The macroscopic and microscopic observations provide distinction of growth rings
boundaries.
Senegalia pedicellata (Benth.) Seigler & Ebinger shows cambial variant lobed stem with
flattened lobes and growth rings boundaries of sporadic occurrence (Figure 1B, 2D). The
distinction in microscopic view is possible, in some portions of stem, mainly by pith flecks
and traumatic canals. But occasionally it is also possible by semi-ring-porous and fibrous
zone. The macroscopic and microscopic observations provide distinction of growth rings
boundaries.
