É um local onde as pessoas realmente entendem de música<br />
e uma grande vitrine para o Brasil. É realmente um lugar<br />
incrível, Curitiba tem um carinho enorme por mim e um<br />
trabalho muito bem planejado para a música eletrônica.<br />
Por que Alok?<br />
Esse é o meu nome mesmo (risos).<br />
Você tem um irmão gêmeo que também é DJ. Se seu nome<br />
é Alok, como ele se chama?<br />
Baskar.<br />
Qual o significado de seu nome?<br />
É indiano, significa luz.<br />
Você e seu irmão trocam experiências? Existe uma influência?<br />
Certamente. Tocava junto com ele, tínhamos vários projetos<br />
juntos, e agora separamos. Fiz o Alok e de um tempo<br />
para cá, segui minha carreira solo. Agora ele voltou a tocar<br />
e está sendo lançado no mercado como Baskar mesmo.<br />
Qual é a maior dificuldade para quem está entrando<br />
nessa profissão? O que poderia dizer para quem está<br />
começando?<br />
Varia muito. Algumas pessoas têm mais dificuldades financeiras,<br />
com relação a comprar equipamentos. Outras<br />
pessoas têm mais dificuldade em ter contatos. Mas é preciso<br />
ter disciplina. Como em qualquer outro trabalho, você tem<br />
que se dedicar pra caramba. Recomendo que todos os DJs<br />
produzam e não fiquem só tocando músicas de outros.<br />
Precisa ter a produção própria, porque o reconhecimento<br />
vem quando você está fora da sua zona de conforto. É<br />
onde você realmente vai conseguir expor seu trabalho e<br />
ser reconhecido por outros públicos que nunca te viram<br />
tocar. É através da música. E essa música tem que ser diferente.<br />
Ela não pode ser mais do mesmo. Precisa ter uma<br />
singularidade pessoal, uma marca registrada. Outro ponto:<br />
acredite no seu potencial. Por exemplo, existem muitas<br />
pessoas que têm mais técnica do que eu. Mas sempre tive<br />
fé, sempre acreditei no novo e que realmente poderia trazer<br />
inovações para a música eletrônica.<br />

You have a twin brother who is also a DJ. If your name is<br />
Alok, what’s his?<br />
Baskar.<br />
What is the meaning of your name?<br />
It`s Indian, meaning light.<br />
Do you and your brother exchange experiences? Is there<br />
any influence?<br />
Surely. I used to play together with him; we carried out<br />
several projects together, but now we have split up. I became<br />
Alok and, from then on, I took on a solo career. Now<br />
he’s back playing and is being launched on the market as<br />
Baskar, by himself.<br />
What is the biggest difficulty for those who want to enter<br />
this profession? What would you say to those just starting<br />
out?<br />
It varies greatly. Some people have financial difficulties with<br />
respect to buying equipment. Other people have difficulty<br />
with making contacts. But you have to have discipline. As in<br />
any other job, you have to devote much of yourself. I recommend<br />
that all DJs produce and don’t keep playing the music<br />
from others. You must have your own production, because<br />
recognition comes when you are outside your comfort zone.<br />
It is where you will really be able to expose your work and<br />
be recognized by others, who have never seen you play.<br />
It is through the music. And this music has to be different.<br />
It cannot be more of the same. It needs to have a personal<br />
uniqueness, a registered trademark. Another point: believe<br />
in your potential. For example, there are many people who<br />
have more technique than myself. But I have always had faith<br />
in myself, I’ve always believed in the new and that I could<br />
really bring innovation to electronic music.<br />
Resido em São Paulo, mas podemos dizer que hoje moro<br />
na estrada. Passo muito mais tempo em avião, no céu, na<br />
estrada, em aeroporto, do que em casa<br />
