públicos em obras de infraestrutura nos setores elétrico,
ferroviário, transporte e habitação, entre outros. Também
será um ano em que teremos a oportunidade de criar um
ambiente positivo para o cenário político. O mercado
financeiro também projeta um cenário favorável para a
economia brasileira em 2018, com a expectativa de inflação
controlada, crescimento elevado e juros de um dígito, e
esse quadro cria ambiente de incentivo para investimentos.
Ou seja, todos os cenários mostram a possibilidade de um
PIB da construção mostrando uma significativa evolução
para 2018.
Também podemos incluir iniciativas como a do Núcleo
da Madeira e da empresa Amata, com o anúncio de projeto
de prédio totalmente em madeira, que ajudam a difundir
o uso de eucalipto na construção civil no Brasil.
Finalmente, uma das principais previsões de melhoria
para toda a cadeia da madeira pode advir do possível
lançamento, sob coordenação da Embrapa Florestas, do
Plano Nacional de Florestas Plantadas, que contemplará
o diagnóstico e inventário da situação do setor florestal o
que permitiria a definição de metas de produção alinhadas
às perspectivas de demanda.
Acredita que a instabilidade política deve ser menos
responsável pela insegurança do mercado nos próximos
anos?
É muito fácil ligar notícias do fraco desempenho da
construção civil, por exemplo, como reflexo do encolhimento
das construtoras envolvidas na operação Lava
Jato, com a queda dos investimentos públicos e com o
esfriamento do mercado imobiliário.
Teremos uma grande oportunidade de mudar isso nas
próximas eleições. O ambiente político clama por uma
renovação e os caminhos a serem tomados a partir das
eleições em 2018 determinarão o que vamos enfrentar
nos próximos anos. Esperamos que o futuro seja o melhor
possível para o nosso país.
Hoje, quais mercados são os primordiais para a
madeira tratada? A construção civil continua sendo o
principal ou há espaço para diversificar?
O mercado da preservação de madeiras atua hoje
em quatro setores (ferroviário, elétrico, construção civil
e rural), e cada um deles tem a sua importância. Com os
investimentos previstos em ferrovias para os próximos
anos, este é um setor que promete movimentar bastante
o mercado da madeira tratada. As construções rurais continuarão
com sua participação importante para atividade
do setor, até por conta do aumento da produção de carnes
bovina, suína e de frango, por exemplo.
Enxergamos na construção civil um grande mercado
para preservação industrial de madeira. Nos últimos anos
as indústrias de preservação de madeiras vêm apresentado
novas soluções em produtos e sistemas construtivos em
What can we predict for 2018 in the Sector?
We believe that the Wood Preservation Sector will have
a better year as to results than those achieved in 2017. Primarily
due to investments in infrastructure, which should
lead to important contributions to the growth of the Sector.
We will have elections and, in years like this, there are
always interesting movements in the economy that could
lead to greater public investment in infrastructure works in
the Rail, Transport Electrical and Housing Sectors, amongst
others. It will also be a year in which we will have the opportunity
to create a positive environment within the political
landscape. The financial markets also project a favorable
scenario for the Brazilian economy in 2018, with the expectation
of controlled inflation, high growth and single-digit
interest, and this will lead to the creation of incentives within
the investment environment. That is, all scenarios lead
to the possibility a building construction GDP showing a
significant growth in 2018.
We can also include initiatives, such as the Timber
Nucleus and Amata, with the announcement of building
project built entirely in wood, that help divulge the use of
eucalyptus in building construction in Brazil.
Finally, one of the main predictions for the improvement
for the whole timber chain may come from the possible
release, under the coordination of Embrapa Florestas,
of the National Pan for Planted Forests, which will include
the diagnosis and the inventory situation in the Forest Sector
and allow for the definition of production goals aligned
with demand prospects.
Do you believe that political instability should be
less responsible for insecurity in the market in the coming
years?
It's very easy to interpret the news of the weak performance
in building construction, for example, as a reflection
of the shrinkage of the construction companies involved in
the Lava Jato operation, as well as the fall of public investments
and the cooling of the housing market. We have a
great opportunity to change this in the next election. The
political environment calls for a renewal, and the paths to
be taken from the elections in 2018 will determine what we
will face in the coming years. We hope that the future will
be the best possible for our Country.
Today, what are the main markets for treated
wood? Does building construction continue to be the
main one or is there room to diversify?
The wood preservation market, today, consists of four
sectors (rail, electrical, building construction and rural),
and each one of them has its own importance. With the investment
planned in railways in the coming years, this is a
Sector that promises to move the market for treated wood.
Rural construction continues with an important participation
for industry activity, on account of the increase in beef,
pork and chicken production, for example. We see building
