é uma tarefa monumental com desafios na<br />
coleta, interpretação e exibição de dados. O<br />
GFC (Global Forest Change), um projeto desenvolvido<br />
pelo professor Matthew Hansen, do Departamento<br />
de Geografia da Universidade de Maryland, aborda essa questão<br />
usando algoritmos para distinguir a cobertura florestal e a<br />
mudança nas imagens de satélite. A partir desses dados, o GFC<br />
é capaz de exibir tendências na perda e ganho de cobertura<br />
florestal ao longo do tempo.<br />

data collection, interpretation, and display.<br />
The Global Forest Change (GFC), a project<br />
developed by Professor Matthew Hansen of the University of<br />
Maryland´s Geography Department, tackles this issue by using<br />
algorithms to distinguish forest cover and change in satellite<br />
imagery. From this data, GFC is able to display trends in forest<br />
cover loss and gain over time.<br />
