florestal para a sociedade
>> Como foi a sua caminhada até a presidência da associação?
Venho atuando como diretor da The Forest Company e
isso fez com que eu conquistasse mais espaço para discussões
relacionadas ao mercado florestal. Desde 2018
atuei de maneira mais efetiva e presencial dentro das
reuniões da APRE. Esse empenho focado na melhoria da
comunicação e nas discussões para desenvolvimento do
setor abriu as portas para esse novo desafio. Por isso os
associados me confiaram a oportunidade de assumir a
presidência da APRE. Para mim foi, sem dúvida nenhuma,
uma surpresa e é também uma responsabilidade
representar uma associação que tem mais de cinquenta
anos de atuação dentro do nosso setor, representa
quarenta e cinco empresas e busca sempre melhorar
resultados.
>> Quais os maiores desafios para o próximo biênio?
Além de grandes, são muitos os desafios. Principalmente
relacionados às questões mais impactantes para o nosso
setor. Posso citar algumas delas, como as questões relacionadas
a autorizações, de licenças, a parte tributária,
onde, por exemplo, temos hoje uma demanda urgente
relacionada ao ITR (Imposto Territorial Rural) que vem
impactando muito as empresas florestais. Vejo também
que precisamos continuar a melhorar o relacionamento
entre os associados, como já era feito na gestão anterior,
pelo ex-presidente Álvaro Scheffer. E, principalmente,
mostrar pra comunidade não florestal o quão impactada
ela é pelo nosso setor no seu dia a dia. É preciso que a
comunidade consiga ver o impacto diário que o setor
oferece.
>> Sua experiência em gestão é um trunfo na administração
da associação?
Sem dúvida. Justamente esse formato de gestão, que venho
atuando no últimos anos, para que eu criasse esse
contato com outras empresas, abrisse oportunidades
de discussões e intermediação de dúvidas e demandas
entre diversas empresas ligadas ao nosso setor. Isso
vai agregar muito na gestão e na administração da associação.
Temos hoje um corpo técnico extremamente
compete e sempre trabalhamos em conjunto, sempre
discutimos assuntos relacionados ao setor de forma
constante.
What was your path to the presidency of the Association?
I was the manager of The Forest Company do Brasil
Participações Ltda. and this has given me space for
discussions related to the forest product markets.
Furthermore, since 2018, I have been very active in
attending APRE meetings in person. This commitment
focused on improving communication and
discussions for the Sector’s development and opened
the door to this new challenge. That is why the members
entrusted me with the opportunity to assume
the presidency of APRE. It was undoubtedly a surprise,
and it is also a responsibility to represent an
association with more than fifty years of experience
within our Sector, representing forty-five companies
and always seeking to improve results.
What are the biggest challenges for this biennium?
There are many small challenges in addition to the
large challenges. But the most important ones are
mainly related to the issues which have a significant
impact on our Sector. I mention some of them, such
as those related to permits, licenses, and taxes.
Under this latter, for example, there is an urgent
topic related to the Rural Territorial Tax (ITR), which
significantly impacts forest companies. I also see
the need to continue to improve the relationship
between members, as was already being done in the
previous administration under former APRE President
Álvaro Scheffer. And above all, we need to show
the non-forest community how our industry impacts
it in its day-to-day life. The community needs to be
able to see the daily impacts of what the industry
offers.
Is your management experience an asset in the
administration of the Association?
Undoubtedly. With this management format, which
I have been working within recent years, I can create
contacts with other companies and develop opportunities
for discussions and intermediation of doubts
and demands between various companies linked to
our Sector. This adds a lot to the management and
administration of the Association. Today, we have an
extremely competent technical staff, and we always
work together and constantly discuss issues related
to the Sector.
What are the plans to improve the Association’s
communication about the Forest-Based Sector?
If we look at how communication was carried out
over the last ten years, not only within our association
but also within the market, it was completely
different from what we are doing today. We will
continue and increase communication through social
networks for this next biennium to leave our bubble
