typology analysis literature
This study is an approach to analyse the image of Athens as seen through the typology of its basic building component,
the "poly-katoikia" (block of flats). A typological study of "polykatoikia" will fulfill successfully the demands
of a research concerning the identity of open structures und their different uses over the years in an urban context;
therefore we will isolate and analyse methodically the specific characteristics of these buildings. The formulation of
this analyse - supported by selected literature about different architectural aspects - and is an essential tool for your
further design work and research in building science towards your diploma.
The procedure of analysing "polykatoikia" is formed as follows:
1. General history of the buidling will be introduced
2. Literature will be chosen to support the analyse
3. Information of single referenceprojects will be gathered and filed
4. Analytic diagrams of the open-structure-parameters will be displayed and compared
5. Analytic diagrams of the space and its program will be displayed and compared
6. The study will be archived by a catalog
Application requirements: a good knowledge of english; CAD and Adobe InDesign CS
