nicht jugendfrei – uns hat sie trotzdem davon erzählt

Mick JAGGEr, later hung out with Kurt Cobain, and even though her first encounter with
Potsdamer Platz was adult content, she still told us all about it
Sie sind in München aufgewachsen und 1993 nach Berlin gezogen.
Warum? Ich war hoffnungslos verliebt – in den späteren Vater
meines Sohnes. Und Berlin war in den 1990ern mit den vielen Kellerclubs,
Bars und seiner Undergroundszene einzigartig. Sehr wild und sehr aufregend.
Erinnern Sie sich an Ihren ersten Besuch am Potsdamer Platz?
Ja, ziemlich gut sogar. Die Geschichte ist allerdings nicht jugendfrei.
Erzählen Sie ... Der Potsdamer Platz hatte gerade erst für Besucher
geöffnet. Alles war auf Hochglanz poliert. Ich war mit einer Gruppe von
Musikern unterwegs, die überhaupt nicht in die schicke Umgebung passten.
Wir saßen auf dem Marlene-Dietrich-Platz, da baute schon der Erste
eine riesige Marihuana-Tüte. Sein Kollege meinte leise: „Ey, das kannst
du hier nicht bringen.“ Woraufhin der andere lautstark antwortete: „Doch,
kann ich. Dit is hier immer noch Berlin!“ Ich habe schallend gelacht.
Seit 2005 leben Sie auf einem Hof auf dem brandenburgischen
Lande zusammen mit Ihrem 17-jährigen Sohn, einigen Araberpferden,
Hunden und Katzen. Vermissen Sie manchmal
das Stadtleben? Ja, besonders im Winter, wenn es draußen matschig und
grau ist. Dafür genieße ich es umso mehr, zwischendurch nach Berlin zu
fahren: Essen oder ins Kino gehen, Freunde treffen – ich zelebriere diese
Ausflüge und komme erfüllt nach Hause zurück.
Ihr Hof liegt sehr abgeschieden. Wie mutig muss man da draußen
sein? In der ersten Nacht gab es diesen Moment, alleine auf meinem Hof,
an dem ich mich entscheiden musste: Entweder ich ziehe das durch, oder
ich kann gleich wieder verkaufen. Seitdem habe ich meine Angst abgelegt.
Geholfen haben mir meine Hunde. Sie sind meine Alarmanlage.
Abgesehen von mutig: Welche Eigenschaften zeichnen Sie
noch aus? Ich bin schrecklich idealistisch, fast schon anstrengend idealistisch.
Und ich bin perfektionistisch. Nichts ist mir gut genug. Meine
Träume sind viel bunter und schillernder, als es die Realität sein könnte.
Deshalb habe ich mir dieses kleine private Disneyland auf dem Lande
geschaffen. Eine heile Welt, die ich brauche, um den Rest zu tolerieren.
Mit 15 Jahren sind Sie zu Hause ausgezogen, um Schauspielerin
zu werden. Wie kam es dazu? Ich war ein Nestflüchter und fand die
Welt extrem spannend. Schauspielerin wollte ich immer werden. Ich komme
aus einer Schauspielerfamilie.
Noch im selben Jahr haben Sie einen Werbespot mit den Rolling
Stones in New York gedreht. Ziemlich cool für eine 15-Jährige,
oder? Damals stand ich auf Hip-Hop, hatte Dreadlocks bis zum Hintern
und war insgeheim in Michi Beck von den Fantastischen Vier verliebt.
Die Rolling Stones waren mir zu alt. Aber nach New York zu fliegen und
dort zu drehen, war wahnsinnig aufregend.
You grew up in Munich and moved to Berlin in 1993. Why?
I was head over heels in love — with the future father of my son. And
Berlin in the 1990s, with its cellar clubs, bars and underground scene,
was unique. Really wild and very exciting.
Do you remember the first time you visited Potsdamer Platz?
Yeah, pretty well, actually. The story is definitely for mature audiences.
Do tell ...Potsdamer Platz had just opened its doors to visitors for
the first time. Everything was polished to a high sheen. I was passing
through with a group of musicians who didn’t really fit in with the chic
environment. We were sitting out on Marlene-Dietrich-Platz, and the
first thing one of the guys did was roll a massive joint. His mate said
quietly, “Hey, you can’t do that here.” To which the other guy replied,
in Berlin slang, “Yes I can. This is still Berlin here.” I laughed my
head off.
Since 2005, you’ve been living on a farm in the Brandenburg
countryside, together with your 17-year-old son, as well as
various dogs, cats and Arabian horses. Do you sometimes miss
city life? Yes, especially in the winter, when it’s all muddy and grey
outside. That’s when I particularly enjoy going to Berlin to eat out or
go to the cinema, meet friends. I really value these trips and then I
return home completely contented.
Your farmhouse is quite isolated. Does it take a lot of guts to
live so far out? There was a moment during the first night alone in
my farmhouse when I really had to make a decision: either I see this
thing through or I just sell it straight away. Since then, I’ve put aside
my fear. My dogs have helped me. They’re my alarm system.
Apart from courage, what are your main personality traits?
I’m ridiculously idealistic, almost to the point that it causes stress. And
I’m a perfectionist. Nothing is quite good enough for me. My dreams
are more colourful and glittering than reality could ever be. So that’s
why I’ve created for myself this little private Disneyland in the country,
an ideal world that I need to be able to tolerate all the other stuff.
You left home at 15 to become an actress. How did that come
about? I wanted to flee the nest and found the world extremely
fascinating. I’d always wanted to be an actress. I come from an
acting family.
In the very same year, you were filmed in a commercial with
The Rolling Stones in New York. Pretty cool for a 15-yearold,
right? At that time, I was into hip hop, had dreadlocks down to
my bum and was secretly in love with Michi Beck from the German
hip hop group Die Fantastischen Vier (The Fantastic Four). The
Rolling Stones were too old for me. But flying to New York and
filming an advert there was insanely exciting.
