BASEL 5
Willkommen in Basel / Welcome to Basel
Liebe Gäste
Die Lebensader Basels ist der Rhein. Er
leistet einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur hohen
Lebensqualität. Und was mich besonders
freut: Es ist wieder Buvetten-Zeit!
Die Verpflegungsstände am Rhein locken
im Frühling und Sommer tausende von
Menschen an den Fluss. Geniessen Sie
Dear Guests
The Rhine is the artery carrying the lifeblood
of the city. Today it accounts for the
good quality of life that Basel offers its
inhabitants and guests. Personally, I can‘t
wait to start frequenting the outdoor bars
again! The food & drink stands along the
Rhine attract thousands of people to the
river in spring and summer. They are a great place
to enjoy a refreshing drink and a tasty snack in fine
weather. Three new outdoor bars will be opening
this year – one in the St. Alban district, one near
Solitude Park and one near St. Johann Park.
As well as its passion for savoir-vivre, Basel also
attaches great importance to art. There are 40
museums with spectacular collections and special
exhibitions waiting to be discovered – this is unique
in Switzerland and at the top of the international
league too.
Nevertheless, my personal highlight for this spring is
the opening of the new elephant enclosure at Basel
Zoo. With an area of over 5,000 m 2 , the pachyderms
will now have more than twice as much space as
before. Visitors will be able to observe the elephants
in their naturally landscaped savannah.
Do you still need persuading? Visit www.basel.com
sights and squares in the city. We look forward to
welcoming you!
