Die Basler Altstadt gehört zu den intaktesten und schönsten Europas. An
jeder Ecke finden sich Bauten aus dem 15. Jahrhundert, aber auch solche
zeitgenössischer, international renommierter Architekten.
The Old Town of Basel is one of the most well-preserved and prettiest
in Europe. On every corner one can find buildings dating back as far as
the 15th century, however also fabulous modern buildings designed by
world-renowned architects.

MITTLERE BRÜCKE

Die Mittlere Brücke wurde im Jahr 1226 eröffnet und ist einer der ältesten
Rheinübergänge zwischen dem Bodensee und der Nordsee. In der Mitte der
Brücke befindet sich noch heute eine Kopie der alten Brückenkapelle, das
sogenannte Käppelijoch.
The Mittlere Brücke was opened in 1226 and is one of the oldest crossing
points on the Rhine between Lake Constance and the North Sea. A copy of
the old bridge chapel, the so-called “Käppelijoch”, can still be found in the
middle of the bridge.

DIE BASLER STADTTORE
Basel besitzt noch drei Stadttore von der letzten grossen Stadtbefestigung
von 1400: das Spalentor, das St. Alban-Tor und das St. Johanns-Tor.
Die Tore können einmal im Jahr am Tag der Stadttore auch von innen
besichtigt werden.
Basel still has three gates dating back to the last great city fortifications
of 1400: the Spalentor, the St. Alban-Tor and the St. Johanns-Tor. You can
visit the gates both inside and out every year on the Day of the City Gates.
