Energien. Dieses flächendeckende Engagement hat zur
Prämierung Willebadessens als erste Bioenergie-Kommune in
Nordrhein-Westfalen geführt. Willebadessen versorgt seine
kommunalen Liegenschaften über Biogasabwärme und hat
durch zahlreiche Effizienzmaßnahmen Großteile seines Stromund
Wärmebedarfs eingespart.
The District of Höxter sees itself as one of
Germany’s leading regions in the use of sustainable
energy today. Beginning with the
large swathes of forest in the district, intelligent
value chains are created. The focal point
is the biomass facility at Borlinghausen (BEM
GmbH). Here, the leftover wood from the district’s
forests is chopped, shredded and dried,
and then turned into biomass pellets, wood
chippings and briquettes. In this way, additional
high-efficiency biomass resources can
be utilized. In 2015 in Berlin, the District of
Höxter was named as one of the 13 winning
regions in the “Land(auf)Schwung” pilot
scheme. The town of Willebadessen in the
District of Höxter has also made a name for
itself in the generation of sustainable energy.
Numerous biogas, wind and photovoltaic
installations across the town generate 1 ½
times the amount of energy it needs. This led
to Willebadessen becoming the first ‘bioenergy
town’ in North-Rhine Westphalia.
