The ‘Zukunftsnetz Mobilität NRW‘, North-Rhine
Westphalia’s Network for the Future of Mobility,
addresses the long-term development of environmentally
and socially responsible mobility. The
coordinating office in Paderborn is responsible
for the entire Detmold administrative region
and aims to create incentives to bring about a
fundamental change in transportation, even in
rural areas. Linking up transport providers plays
a key role here. One example of this in the
District of Höxter is the setting up of a network
of “mobility hubs” within the nph area. Here
various modes of transport are brought together,
for instance rental points for E-cars, E-bikes or
other car-sharing systems. In addition, the coordinating
office actively supports local councils
offering advice to put them in a position to be
able to deal with mobility issues in the future.
The focus here is on local bus and rail transport,
but also covers the needs of cyclists and pedestrians.
Several local councils, including the
District of Höxter, have now joined the
Was in Großstädten mittlerweile
