Seit vielen Jahren pflegt die Agrar- und Umweltwissenschaftliche
Fakultät enge Kontakte im arabischen
Raum. „Es ist ein starkes Netzwerk für Umwelt und
Energie entstanden“, sagt Privatdozent Dr. Abdallah
Nassour stolz. „Davon profitieren heute sowohl
Deutschland als auch arabische Länder. Der in Syrien
geborene Rostocker Wissenschaftler lebt seit
1988 in der Hansestadt. Er hat an der Universität
Rostock promoviert und sich habilitiert. Sein Anliegen
ist, deutsches Know-how in die arabische Region zu
vermitteln. Die ersten Projekte zur Unterstützung von
Ägypten und Tunesien zum Beispiel befinden sich in
der Antragsphase. Die Themen Ausbildung in Umwelt-
und Energiefragen stehen dabei im Vordergrund. Dr.
Abdallah Nassour ist Initiator dieses sich allmählich
bildenden Netzwerks. „Ich bin nicht nur Syrer, ich
bin Araber und möchte die Transferstelle zwischen
der Universität Rostock und den arabischen Ländern
sein.“ Unterstützt werde er dabei von beiden Seite. „In
den letzten Jahren haben wir viele Projekte in Syrien,
Jordanien, Ägypten, Kuwait, Tunesien und Saudi Arabien
realisiert.“ In seinem Geburtsland Syrien ist Dr.
Nassour dabei besonders aktiv.

Cooperation with Arab partners
For many years the Agricultural and Environmental
Sciences Faculty has maintained close contacts with
the Arab world. “It has become a strong network for
the environment and energy,” says external lecturer
Dr. Abdallah Nassour proudly. “Today both Germany
and the Arab countries benefit from this. The Syrianborn
Rostock scientist has lived in the Hanseatic city
since 1988. He completed his doctorate and post-doctorate
at the University of Rostock. His chief concern is
to disseminate German expertise throughout the Arab
region. The first projects supporting Egypt and Tunisia
for example are currently in the application stage. The
topics of education in the environment and energy issues
take centre stage here. Dr. Abdallah Nassour is
initiator of this gradually developing network. “I am not
only Syrian, I am an Arab and would like to be the point
of transfer between the University of Rostock and the
Arab countries.” He is supported in this from both sides.
“In recent years we have implemented many
projects in Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Tunisia and
Saudi Arabia.” Dr. Nassour is particularly active in his
native country of Syria.
