Neue Verfahren gegen Sepsis und<br />
für künstlichen Organersatz<br />
An der Universität Rostock wurde ein Kooperationsvertrag<br />
unterzeichnet, der die Erforschung und Entwicklung<br />
von neuen Verfahren gegen Sepsis und zur<br />
Herstellung künstlichen Organersatzes vorantreiben<br />
soll. Henry Tesch, Minister für Bildung, Wissenschaft<br />
und Kultur in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern besiegelte<br />
mit seiner Unterschrift die Zusammenarbeit von Wissenschaftlern<br />
der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität<br />
Rostock und des Fraunhofer- Instituts für Zelltherapie<br />
und Immunologie (IZI) in Leipzig. Es wurde eine<br />
Arbeitsgruppe gegründet, die unter dem Namen EXIM<br />
(„Extrakorporale Immunmodulation“) und unter Leitung<br />
des Rostocker Mediziners Professor Dr. Steffen<br />
Mitzner an der Weiterentwicklung von Blutreinigungsverfahren<br />
und künstlichem Organersatz arbeitet. Das<br />
Forschungsvorhaben, in dessen Mittelpunkt zunächst<br />
zwei Studien mit Betroffenen stehen, wird in den kommenden<br />
fünf Jahren von Land und Europäischer Gemeinschaft<br />
mit insgesamt 5,5 Millionen Euro finanziert.<br />

New procedures against sepsis and<br />
for artificial organ replacement<br />
A cooperation agreement was signed at Rostock University<br />
that is to speed up the research and development<br />
of new procedures against sepsis and for the<br />
manufacturing of artificial organ replacements. With<br />
his signature Harry Tesch, Minister of Education, Science<br />
and Culture of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, put<br />
his seal on the cooperation between scientists from<br />
the Faculty of Medicine of Rostock University and the<br />
Fraunhofer Institute of Cell Therapy and Immunology<br />
(IZI) in Leipzig. A work group set up under the name<br />
EXIM („Extracorporeal immunomodulation“) is working<br />
on the further development of blood purification procedures<br />
and artificial organ replacements. Focusing initially<br />
on two studies with affected persons, the research<br />
project will receive a total of Euro 5.5 million in funding<br />
from the federal state and the European Community in<br />
the next five years.<br />
