Rostocker Universitäts- und
Wissenschaftsgeschichte
Am 24. Juni 2011 kam der Arbeitskreis „Rostocker
Universitäts- und Wissenschaftsgeschichte“ zu seiner
15. Sitzung zusammen, an der auch der Rektor der
Universität, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schareck teilnahm.
Entsprechend der Zielsetzung des Arbeitskreises
wurden im ersten Teil der Sitzung aktuelle Arbeiten
vorgestellt. Anita Krätzner (Philosophische Fakultät)
behandelte Diskussionen an der Universität Rostock
nach dem Mauerbau, verglich sie mit denen an anderen
Universitäten und hinterfragte die Aussage eines
beteiligten SED-Funktionärs „Die Universität Rostock
steht in der Republik am schlechtesten da.“
Karsten Labahn und Matthias Glasow (Universitätsbibliothek,
Forschungsstelle Universitätsgeschichte)
führten die Teilnehmer in den Professorenkatalog und
das Matrikelportal ein. Der zweite Teil der Sitzung
widmete sich einer Sammlung. Dieses Mal war das
Flächendenkmal „Botanischer Garten“ Gegenstand.
Nachdem Uta Jahnke (Amt für Kultur und Denkmalpflege
der Hansestadt Rostock) über die Geschichte
des Botanischen Gartens berichtet hatte, führte Dr.
Dethardt Götze (Kustos des Gartens) die Teilnehmer
durch die beeindruckende Anlage.

Rostock’s university and science
history
The working group „Rostock’s university and science
history“ met on 24th June 2011 for its 15th meeting,
with the Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang
Schareck participating as well. In accordance with
the working group’s objectives, current works were
presented in the first part of the meeting. Anita Krätzner
(Faculty of Humanities) investigates discussions
which took place at the University of Rostock after the
construction of the Berlin wall, compared them with
those at other universities and analysed the statement
of an involved SED politician “The University of Rostock
holds the poorest record within the republic.”
Karsten Labahn and Matthias Glasow (university library,
research body of university history) introduce the
professor catalogue and the matriculation portal to the
participants. The second part of the meeting dealt with
the collection, this time focusing on the monument
area “Botanical Garden”. After Uta Jahnke (Office of
Culture and Monument preservation of the City of Rostock)
presented information on the Botanical Garden’s
history, Dr. Dethardt Götze (Custos of the Garden) guided
the participants through the impressive facilities.
