A maximum of 132 quality points is possible.
Students who have received college credit
through CLEP for a course required for
the ADN program will be given quality
points equivalent to a course grade of “A”
for ranking purposes.
2. When two or more applicants have an equal
number of quality points in required courses,
applicants will be admitted according to the
date and time the application was received
in the nursing department office on the
Helena-West Helena campus.
3. Course quality points will be calculated
based on PCCUA nursing curriculum
support course requirements that may be
applied toward the AAS degree. Example:
An approved four hour computer course
will be calculated as a three hour course.
4. Quality points for repeated courses will
be determined by the most recent grade
with two quality points subtracted for each
repetition.
5. In addition to earned quality points, points
will be added for ACT scores as follows:
Composite score of 19-22 = 2 points,
23-28 = 4 points, 29 and above = 6
points.
6. Students not initially selected will be placed
on a waiting list in order of total points
accrued. Spaces that become available prior
to the first day of fall classes will be filled
from the waiting list.
Applicants not selected for admission and/or
applicants who elect not to enroll in the fall
nursing class must repeat the application
process that includes submitting a new
application to the ADN Program.
Admission After Application
Deadline
When space is available, qualified applicants
who apply after the deadline will be considered
Alternate Admission
Students may also enter the program via
challenge or articulation from a practical
nursing program or by transferring from
another nursing program.
a. Challenge students are licensed practical
nurses or licensed psychiatric technical
nurses without required work experience
who are granted advanced placement through
examination.
b. Articulation students are licensed practical
nurses or licensed psychiatric technical
nurses who seek enrollment with advanced
placement based on the statewide articulation
agreement.
c. Transfer students are those who left another
nursing program and are seeking to enroll with
or without advanced placement in the PCCUA
program.
· Transfer students will not receive an
application for admission to the ADN program
until the Dean of Allied Health receives a letter
of good standing from the Director/Chair/
Dean of the program from which the student
is transferring. Good standing is defined as
being eligible for enrollment in the program
from which the student is transferring.
A limited number of spaces may be available
for students seeking alternate admission.
LPNs or LPTNs who pass the challenge exams
or meet requirements of the Articulation
Model will be accepted into the appropriate
semester providing space is available. Once an
LPN or LPTN enrolls in the ADN Program,
advanced placement is no longer an option
for progression. See charts above.
