Enrollment
Before enrolling in Nursing Assistant courses,
the student must provide the following
documents:
1. Completed Health Statement
2. Proof of immunization compliance
•Current Td
•2 doses of MMR if born after 1957
•Initiation of Hepatitis B series
3. Proof of TB skin test within the last year
4. Signed Communicable Disease Statement
5. Recent picture
6. Proof of liability insurance
No late enrollment is allowed. Students are
expected to furnish their own transportation
to school and to and from the clinical area.

Approval
The Medication Assistant-Certified Training
(MA-C) Program is approved by the Arkansas
State Board of Nursing (published if ASBN
grants). Program graduates are eligible to
submit an application to write the MA-C
Certification Examination. Applicants should
be aware that violation of any federal, state,
or local drug law or conviction of a crime
may preclude certification as a medication
assistant. Clinical facilities may require a
criminal background check and/or substance
abuse testing as a condition of clinical practice
in the respective facility.

Admission
Students who wish to be considered for
admission to the Medication Assistant-
Certified program must meet the following
criteria:
1. Fulfill all college admission requirements
including proof of high school diploma or
equivalent.
2. Submit official high school transcript
documenting graduation from high school
or official Arkansas High School Diploma/
GED certificate and official transcripts
from all previously attended colleges to the
Registrar’s office and Dean of Allied Health
on the Helena-West Helena campus. These
documents must be received in the nursing
department office on the Helena-West
Helena campus by the application deadline
date.
3. Document a minimum 2.0 cumulative
grade point average in all courses taken at
PCCUA.
4. Provide SAT, ACT, ASSET, or COMPASS
scores taken within the last 4 years that
meet the minimum skill level in reading,
math, and English or complete all required
developmental courses prior to making
application to the MAC program.
5. Document current, full-time employment in
a nursing home as a certified nurse assistant
continuously for a minimum of one year.
6. Provide proof from the Certified Nurse
Aide Registry of an active, unencumbered
Arkansas Nursing Assistant Certification.
7. Meet with the Dean of Allied Health or
Practical Nursing Program Coordinator.
8. Submit completed application to the MA-
C Program on the Helena-West Helena
campus. The application must be received
in the nursing department office on the
Helena-West Helena campus by June 1st
for the fall semester or April 1st for the
Summer I semester.

All students who meet minimum admission
criteria will be accepted to the MA-C program
on a first come, first served basis until all
available space is exhausted. Students meeting
minimum admission criteria who apply to
the program after all available seats are filled
will be waitlisted by the date and time the
application was received in the Department
of Nursing.
Since admission is on a first come, firstserved
basis meeting the minimum criteria
for admission or taking developmental
courses required for admission to the MA-C
program does not guarantee admission to the
program.
Applicants who apply after all available space
is filled or applicants who elect not to enroll
after admission to the semester for which
application was made must repeat the entire
application process that includes submitting a
new application to the MA-C program.
Late Applications
When space is available, qualified applicants
who apply after the deadline will be considered
for admission on a first come, first-served
basis.
