go<strong>in</strong>g ! Be assured, <strong>Willy</strong>, that if my po<strong>or</strong> prayers can<br />
obta<strong>in</strong> favour f<strong>or</strong> you all from Almighty God, they shall<br />
not be want<strong>in</strong>g". <strong>The</strong> good man spoke <strong>in</strong> a thick, husky<br />
voice, and he hastened away, evidently desirous to hide<br />
his emotion.<br />
<strong>The</strong> rest of the company declared their <strong>in</strong>tention of rema<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />
over night, so as to accompany the <strong>Burke</strong>s some<br />
miles of the way on the follow<strong>in</strong>g m<strong>or</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g ; and the<br />
night-hours passed away <strong>in</strong> sad but friendly conversation.<br />

the w<strong>or</strong>ld. Ay, still m<strong>or</strong>e radiant are ,then its Div<strong>in</strong>e<br />
l<strong>in</strong>eaments, its truthfulness, its humility, and its mild-<br />
ness, when brought <strong>in</strong>to contrast with the proud, arrogant<br />
spirit of the age—the cold, sceptical age <strong>in</strong> which<br />
we live ! It was still dark, on that Monday m<strong>or</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g,
