were but the sequel of that mem<strong>or</strong>able conversation<br />

any degree of malice) attacked <strong>Willy</strong> <strong>Burke</strong> on the sc<strong>or</strong>e<br />

of his religion. "Revenge", said Mr. Talbot, "is at all<br />

times an unholy feel<strong>in</strong>g, and, if <strong>in</strong>dulged, will often be<br />

found to recoil on the head of him who w<strong>or</strong>ked it f<strong>or</strong><br />

another. Thus you promised to be revenged on <strong>Burke</strong>,<br />

merely because he put a sudden stop to your ridicule of<br />

his religion and its priests. Well, you have done your<br />

utmost; you have made a desperate eff<strong>or</strong>t to fulfil your<br />
