said <strong>Willy</strong> with a cheerful smile, " will you just come<br />
with me and see Mr. Talbot? f<strong>or</strong> I want to ask his ad-<br />
vice about our money ; and then he '11 be so glad to see<br />
you, and so will Mrs. Talbot".<br />
Peter hesitated, and blushed deeply. " But then I don 't<br />
like to go", he said, " Mr. Talbot must th<strong>in</strong>k me so ungrateful<br />
; <strong>in</strong> sh<strong>or</strong>t, he never got much reason to th<strong>in</strong>k<br />
well of me, and that 's the truth, so I 'm ashamed to go !"<br />
" Nonsense, Peter", said his brother, tak<strong>in</strong>g hold of<br />
his arm, " you never committed any shameful action <strong>in</strong><br />
regard to Mr. Talbot, that you need fear to meet him<br />

" <strong>The</strong>n I'll go with you", said <strong>Willy</strong>, quickly, "f<strong>or</strong> I<br />
know of old that Mrs. Watk<strong>in</strong>s doesn't want you to be<br />
on good terms with me, and she might persuade you to<br />
stay at home".<br />
" Oh, never fear", was the answer ; " she '11 be so glad<br />
to hear of our good f<strong>or</strong>tune, that she '11 have no objection<br />
f<strong>or</strong> me to go to see Mr. Talbot. But really its too bad<br />
that you have so bad an op<strong>in</strong>ion of Mr. and Mrs Watk<strong>in</strong>s,<br />

sure if Mrs. Watk<strong>in</strong>s had been my own mother, she<br />
