One <strong>of</strong> the most <strong>in</strong>terest<strong>in</strong>g patterns <strong>to</strong> be highlighted <strong>in</strong> Table 5.2.4 is that<br />

while women’s participation rates <strong>in</strong> clean<strong>in</strong>g, and the average duration <strong>of</strong><br />

their task, are higher <strong>in</strong> male headed ho<strong>use</strong>holds, men’s participation <strong>in</strong><br />

clean<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>dicates a significantly higher participation <strong>in</strong> female headed<br />

ho<strong>use</strong>holds (59 percent compared with 40 percent).<br />
