W ponder well, you parents deare,<br />

Thefe wordes, which I mall write ;<br />

A doleful ftory you (hall heare,<br />

In time brought forth to light :<br />

A gentleman <strong>of</strong> good account 5<br />

In Norfolke dwelt <strong>of</strong> late,<br />

Who did in honour far furmount<br />

Moll men <strong>of</strong> his eftate.<br />

Sore ficke he was, and like to dye,<br />

No helpe his life could fave ;<br />

His wife by him as ficke did lye,<br />

And both poiTefl one grave.<br />

No love between thefe two was l<strong>of</strong>t,<br />

Each was to other kinde,<br />

In leve they liv'd, in love they dyed, 15<br />

And left two babes behinde :<br />

The one a fine and pretty boy,<br />

Not paffing three yeares <strong>old</strong>e ;<br />

The other a girl more young than he,<br />

The father left his little fon,<br />

As plainly doth appeare,<br />

When he to perfecl age fhould come,<br />

Three hundred poundes a yeare.<br />

To be paid downe on marriage-day,<br />

Which might, not be controii'd ;<br />
