<strong>KappAhl</strong>’s major expansion phase<br />
begins. 1980 <strong>KappAhl</strong>’s young<br />
people’s department ”Intact” attracts<br />
Swedish teenagers to the stores.<br />
1985 Stores now number 69 and<br />
sales reach SEK 1 billion.<br />
1988 First <strong>KappAhl</strong> store opens in<br />
Norway.<br />
AFTER YEAR-END<br />
• <strong>KappAhl</strong> was established in a new, fifth market: the<br />
Czech Republic. The first store opened in Brno on<br />
16 October 2009.<br />
• 10 new stores opened in September and October. In the<br />
first quarter of the 2009/2010 financial year 18 stores will<br />
open (at the close of 2008/2009 <strong>KappAhl</strong> had contracts for<br />
a further 52 stores).<br />
Geographical expansion continues in the<br />
1990s. 1990 <strong>KappAhl</strong> established in<br />
Finland. Sales reach SEK 2 billion. KF buys<br />
<strong>KappAhl</strong>. 1999 <strong>KappAhl</strong> opens its first<br />
store in Poland and buys Norwegian<br />
Adelsten.<br />
<strong>KappAhl</strong> becomes a listed company and<br />
expansion intensifies. 2006 <strong>KappAhl</strong> listed<br />
on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.<br />
2008/2009 Continued profitable growth,<br />
despite economic downturn. <strong>KappAhl</strong> has 319<br />
stores and contracts for a further 52, of which<br />
20 in Poland. Establishment in the Czech<br />
Republic is decided, which then becomes<br />
<strong>KappAhl</strong>’s fifth market.<br />
