“Although playfulness is an important characteristic of Marko Tadić and his works, the recogni<strong>za</strong>ble<br />

visual medley of colours almost always radiates a certain kind of awkwardness. It<br />

transpires from the sensibility for carnival aspects: a tendency towards revealing shallow representations<br />

and processes of peeping behind porous facades, analysing the media pollution,<br />

creating portraits of the everyday life based on the contrast between consumerism and poverty,<br />

a passion of transforming things and turning them upside down” (Ana Dević)<br />

Today’s art is a successful manipulation of signs,<br />

which unmistakably includes the context in which<br />

it takes part. When we talk about contemporary<br />

art, it is important to point out that it is starting to<br />

find its way out of the pure world of traditional art that<br />

has become slightly too narrow, and is starting to deal<br />

with, among other things, an articulation of modern social<br />

issues. A painting is no longer merely an object that<br />

the art of painting, graffiti art, ambient installations,<br />
