A Youthful<br />
Apartment<br />
with Plenty<br />
of Style<br />
While Modern can sometimes translate into<br />
cold and austere, in apartment of David Flam,<br />
one of directors of TDR, modern lines come<br />
together with plush fabrics, warm colors and<br />
playful touches<br />
It’s chic, even the stainless steel shoehorn is shaped<br />
like a Manolo Blahnik stiletto and the green apples on<br />
the dining room table look like a Rene Magritte sculpture.<br />
But such style comes natural to David Flam. He<br />
recently moved back to his hometown of Zagreb from<br />
Dream home<br />
Munich and designed his apartment with every detail<br />
in mind. “An apartment is said to be the face of the<br />
owner,” remarks Flam, “it’s a very personal place that<br />
reflects you and gives away what kind of person you<br />
are. I hope my apartment reflects who I am - a very social<br />
person who appreciates small luxuries in life and respects<br />
design.”<br />
David has achieved what he set out to do in his threebedroom,<br />
city retreat. Though it wasn’t easy to find the<br />
perfect space and he had many criteria that had to be<br />
met. “You don’t buy an apartment every day and this<br />
was a big investment in my life so I wanted something<br />
special. The criteria were: central position, large balcony<br />
or terrace, parking place or garage and the apartment<br />
had to be cut in a functional way.” 6-months later<br />
Flam found his dream apartment in the exclusive Šalata<br />
neighborhood that fit all his needs. One of the most impressive<br />
features are the outside areas, fashioned with<br />
both a balcony and sprawling lawn terrace making it<br />
easy to forget you’re in the city centre. It was this unique<br />
feature that inspired much of his creative vision. While<br />
combining furniture in black, white and grey colors,<br />
deep chocolate paint coats selected walls turning a<br />
single room into a statement; but it’s the green accents<br />
which lift the atmosphere making it fresh and alive.<br />
A perfect example of this is the whimsical grass print<br />
wallpaper in the hallway. “In the last few years I’ve noticed<br />
wallpaper making a big comeback in interior de-<br />
