The average number of employees, in 2011 and 2010, by line of business and gender, was as<br />

follows:<br />

In 2011 249 of the total headcount were employees of the Parent (2010: 228) and the remainder<br />

were <strong>Group</strong> subsidiary personnel.<br />

In the year ended 31 December 2011, the consolidated companies had an average number of 501<br />

direct or indirect employees with a disability level of 33% or over. Law 13/1982, of 7 April, on<br />

the Social Integration of Persons with Disabilities (LISMI) establishes a minimum quota of 2%<br />

for the recruitment of disabled persons in companies with more than 50 employees. 2.63% of the<br />

<strong>Group</strong>'s headcount in 2011 related to disabled persons.<br />

“Other External Expenses – Leases” in the accompanying consolidated income statement reflects<br />

the costs incurred by the Compañía Trasmediterránea Subgroup for the charter of other shipping<br />

companies’ vessels and cargo decks, which totalled EUR 44 million in 2011 (2010: EUR 41<br />

million).<br />

At 31 December 2011 and 2010, the lease terms and conditions and minimum payments (without<br />

taking into account inflation or possible revisions) under the main vessel charter contracts entered<br />

into by the Compañía Trasmediterránea Subgroup were as follows:<br />
