Goalkeeping Coaches<br />

65. Each Club which operates an Academy shall employ, either on a Full Time or Part Time basis, such<br />

goalkeeping coaches as are necessary to ensure that each Academy Player who is a goalkeeper<br />

receives the required hours of coaching set out in Rule 104.<br />

66. Each goalkeeping coach must:<br />

66.1. attend at least five hours of in-service training to be provided by the Football Association<br />

each year;<br />

66.2. attend the first aid training for Academy coaches provided by the Football Association at<br />

least once every three years; and<br />

66.3. undertake Continued Professional Development organised by the Club.<br />

67. Each goalkeeping coach must hold an up to date UEFA B Licence and an FA Youth Award.<br />

Guidance<br />

This section of the Rules should be read subject to Rule 44.<br />

Consideration is being given to the development of a bespoke FA goalkeeping (youth) qualification.<br />

Senior Professional Development Coach<br />

68. Each Club shall appoint a Senior Professional Development Coach who shall:<br />

68.1. report to the Academy Manager;<br />

68.2. liaise with the Manager;<br />

68.3. by no later than the start of Season 2013/14 hold a UEFA A Licence and the FA Advanced<br />

Youth Award specific to the Professional Development Phase;<br />

68.4. oversee on a day-to-day basis the Coaching Programme for the Under 19 to Under 21<br />

age groups;<br />

68.5. manage the transition of Academy Players to the Club’s senior squad in accordance with<br />

the Club’s procedure for the same described in Rule 69;<br />

68.6. contribute to the Performance Reviews of all Academy Players in the Professional<br />

Development Phase; and<br />

68.7. manage the Club’s team which competes in the Professional Development League.<br />

69. Each Club shall develop, implement and provide evidence of a procedure to enable the transition<br />

of Academy Players to its senior squad.<br />

Guidance<br />

This section of the Rules should be read subject to Rule 44.<br />

Coaches: Qualifications and Professional Development<br />

70. Each coach (excluding goalkeeping coaches to whom Rule 66 applies) must hold:<br />

70.1. an up to date UEFA B Licence (save where these Rules require a coach to hold an up to date<br />

UEFA A Licence); and<br />

70.2. an FA Youth Award; and<br />

70.3. an up to date FA Advanced Youth Award applicable to the Development Phase which he coaches.<br />

71. The FA Youth Award and FA Advanced Youth Award shall be acquired at the latest within 18<br />

months of the start of the coach’s employment.<br />
