tlt'cude (1757) we find Josiah Dwight being called to the niodenitor-<br />

sliip, <strong>and</strong> figuring as one <strong>of</strong> the foremost citizens.<br />

We have to record the death, in 1741, <strong>of</strong> Col. William Pynchon,<br />

justice <strong>of</strong> the Court <strong>of</strong> Common Pleas. His wife was Katharine<br />

Brewer, daughter <strong>of</strong> Rev. Daniel Brewer <strong>and</strong> sister <strong>of</strong> Eunice Brewer,<br />

who had become the wife <strong>of</strong> Rev. Robert Breck. Other deaths were<br />

Col. John Pynchon, clerk <strong>of</strong> courts, in 1742 ; Dea. Henry Burt, in<br />

174)^; <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> Dea. Nathaniel Church, in 17G1. Colonel Pynchon's<br />

wife was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Rev. Mr. Taylor, <strong>of</strong> Westfield.
