step-by-step<br />

1 Perform inhalation techniques: cup hands over face while encouraging client <strong>to</strong><br />

do deep abdominal breathing; hold hands over <strong>the</strong> nose and mouth area for 3<br />

deep abdominal breaths. Helps <strong>to</strong> improve breathing, calms <strong>the</strong> psyche through<br />

inhalation of essential oils.<br />

2 Place hands <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r on <strong>the</strong> sternum, palms flat <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> skin, perform light<br />

pressure in a clockwise motion. On <strong>the</strong> exhale breath 3x. Helps <strong>to</strong> improve<br />

breathing and calms <strong>the</strong> psyche.<br />

3 Move hands out <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> anterior axillae and press shoulders down <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> bed 3x.<br />

Pivot hands <strong>to</strong> cup <strong>the</strong> shoulders and press <strong>to</strong>wards <strong>the</strong> feet 3x. Relaxes <strong>the</strong><br />

chest and shoulders.<br />

4 Bring <strong>the</strong> hands around <strong>the</strong> shoulders and with whole hands stroking behind<br />

<strong>the</strong> shoulders bring <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> base of <strong>the</strong> skull, stretch <strong>the</strong> spine gently by pulling<br />

<strong>to</strong>wards your body 3x. Relieves stress and tension in <strong>the</strong> head, neck<br />

and shoulders.<br />

5 Reposition hands slightly and using <strong>the</strong> middle finger on both hands, stroke<br />

upwards on <strong>the</strong> governing meridian <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> occipital ridge. Pulse with middle<br />

finger on (GV 16) stress point 3x. Relieves stress and tension in <strong>the</strong> head, neck<br />

and shoulders.<br />

6 Bring hands out from behind <strong>the</strong> head and stroke <strong>the</strong> jaw and cheeks with<br />

fingers, and <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> forehead with <strong>the</strong> fleshy part of <strong>the</strong> thumbs simultaneously<br />

3x. Drainage movement; tension relief for frontal sinus and headache.<br />

7 Pulse with <strong>the</strong> middle finger <strong>to</strong> temple (Tai Yang) 3x. This relieves headache<br />

and stress.<br />

Using <strong>the</strong> fleshy part of <strong>the</strong> thumb stroke over <strong>the</strong> brows and follow with<br />

cushioned forefinger stroking under <strong>the</strong> eyes draining <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> temporal lymph<br />

node. Drainage of <strong>the</strong> mas<strong>to</strong>id sinuses.<br />

9 Stroke under <strong>the</strong> eyes with middle fingertips and pinch <strong>the</strong> eyebrows between<br />

thumb and forefinger <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> end of <strong>the</strong> eyebrows 3x. This movement helps <strong>to</strong><br />

drain <strong>the</strong> frontal sinuses and relieve tired eye muscles.<br />

10 Pulse with <strong>the</strong> middle finger at <strong>the</strong> inner eye socket (B1) 3x. This helps with pain<br />

and swelling in <strong>the</strong> eyes, nosebleeds and sinus problems.
