Each of <strong>the</strong> exfoliation products<br />
was given a BioActivity Score based<br />
on four specific criteria of <strong>the</strong> formula:<br />
1.) <strong>the</strong> concentration of Lactic Acid,<br />
2.) <strong>the</strong> concentration of Salicylic Acid,<br />
3.) <strong>the</strong> pH of <strong>the</strong> formula and<br />
4.) <strong>the</strong> presence of o<strong>the</strong>r exfoliating<br />
agents such as Papain, Bromelain,<br />
Retinol, Rice Bran, Rice Extract, Corn<br />
Cob Meal and newer additions <strong>to</strong><br />
Exfoliant Accelera<strong>to</strong>r 35, including<br />
bioactivity score<br />

For example, <strong>the</strong> Salicylic Acid<br />
concentration was analyzed and points<br />
were assigned accordingly. If <strong>the</strong> product<br />
formula contains less than 1% Salicylic<br />
Acid, <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> product received 1 point<br />

A similar analysis was conducted for <strong>the</strong><br />
Lactic Acid concentration, <strong>the</strong> pH and<br />
<strong>the</strong> concentration of o<strong>the</strong>r exfoliating<br />
agents (as listed above). The scores<br />
were <strong>the</strong>n added <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>to</strong> give <strong>the</strong><br />
final BioActivity Score for each product.<br />
