Sine the drifter estimates m e mnstrdned to three hour intervals, a linear interpolation
of the drifter estimate - reqvjred if the radar time did not mincide +th
one of these intervals.
To illustrate the dect d SNR on the comparison, the rdar data we- pmcesed
using two SNR values of 10 and 30 dB.= The 10 dB case wss studied to determine if
this minim- SNR esse was sofF,tient for radial current estimation. In mntrast to
this, the 30 dB ease - maridered to determine if the data mmparison is Lnprowd
by using a relatively high SNR criteria. Since all three driner datasets are^ used in
this comparison, this yielded a total of six radial mmponent mmpackons. These were
mbsequmtly analysed, using a simple linear regression, to estimate the mrrelation
between the segtruthed radial nrrrents estimated fmm the drifter data and those
estimates pmvided by the radar technique.
