mmts. Rom observing Figure 5.7, one notes that the points are ewnly distributed<br />

the mean drifter tangenti Components were not adequately reprenented by the paint<br />

drifter estimate. In other words, the actual tangential component exhibits a greater<br />

variabiihr bath temporally and spatially, than the radial component. This is evident<br />

fmm Table 5.3 where the tangential component standard errors are approximately<br />

twice that <strong>of</strong> the radial's. Another explanation for the suspect tangentlrrl component<br />

comparison <strong>may</strong> <strong>be</strong> due to pcmible system problems which were undetected during<br />

the experimental period. For example, the <strong>be</strong>amforming accuracy <strong>of</strong> the system was<br />
