(Alpha is on the line of the leads) 13. An inner boarding area, ‘Delta’, is<br />

located in the entrance channel approximately 0.5 mile south of the front<br />

Lead.<br />

8.3.1 Outer Boarding Areas<br />

The outer boarding positions, Alpha’, Bravo’ and ‘Charlie’, are intended to<br />

suit vessels approaching from various directions rather than to suit<br />

prevailing weather conditions. However in adverse weather, where there is<br />

doubt as to whether a vessel will be boarded outside or led in to Delta, then<br />

the vessel is usually directed to wait on the line of the leads at least 3 miles<br />

off (ferry traffic is likely also to be joining the leads further out too). Then<br />

the inward run is commenced from Alpha. This makes navigating to an<br />
